Merit Health River Oaks provides specialized care for children and adolescents with lung, breathing and chest disorders. We provide care to improve breathing and prevent symptoms that can lead to ER visits and hospitalization. We are dedicated to providing quality care to your child and keeping you informed and involved in your child's plan of care.

Pediatric pulmonary care is focused on prevention and treatment of breathing-related conditions that affect children, including:

• Allergies
• Breathing difficulties, including problems associated with muscular disorders
• Bronchopulmonary dysplasia
• Chronic sinus problems or recurring colds
• Cystic fibrosis
• Inhalation of foreign bodies
• Obstruction of airflow from common diseases such as childhood asthma, croup and bronchiolitis
• Pneumonia
• Sleep disorders and wakefulness

The multidisciplinary pediatric pulmonary care team includes pediatricians, ENT doctors, cardiologists and other specialized doctors, as well as respiratory therapists, pulmonary technologists, social workers and other clinicians. We provide advanced diagnostic and treatment services for breathing difficulties, including:

• A range of testing capabilities, including sleep studies, allergy skin testing and lung function testing
• Assistance with coordinating home care needs, including ventilators, monitoring, supplemental oxygen or home nursing care
• Education and support for parents and families
• Endoscopic examinations
• Fiber-optic bronchoscopy procedures

The pediatric pulmonary team focuses on developing a treatment plan to alleviate symptoms and minimize the effect of breathing disorders.
